Cyber Bullying

If you think that cyber bullying is a small matter, you're dead wrong. Over 35% teens have been cyber-bullied worldwide, but less than 20% of the victims inform their parents. Not many parents know what to do, and so school counsellors play a part in this issue.
Here are some tips in case you are cyber-bullied

  • Tell a trusted adult about the bullying, and keep telling until the adult takes action.
  • Ignore the messages from the bullies.
  • Tell your school if it is school related.
  • Don’t erase the messages as they may be needed as evidence.
  • Never agree to meet with anyone you meet online.
  • If bullied through chat or instant messaging, the bully can normally be blocked.
  • If you are threatened with harm, inform the local police as this is against the law.
But whatever you do, do not retaliate as that would be considered bullying too.

Cyber bullies are cowards, they hide behind a computer screen.
But in truth, they do not dare face you.
So fear not the bully!
